Following the official reveal of his first English-language microdrama miniseries, OBE MODE, CHAN SAI GAAN is switching his cross-media creative universe into its next mode. Created by and starring CHAN SAI GAAN, the series is scheduled to premiere worldwide in October 23, with new episodes arriving weekly on the official CHAN SAI GAAN YouTube channel. Before the series makes its on-screen debut, “dichotomy,” a promotional soundtrack single from OBE MODE, will set the story in motion. Both its English edition and original Mandarin version will be released worldwide on September 18.
繼首部英語微短劇《OBE MODE》（在地之靈）正式揭開神祕面紗後，塵世間的跨媒體創作宇宙再度切換模式。由他親自創作並領銜主演的《OBE MODE》，預定於2026年10月23日登陸CHAN SAI GAAN官方YouTube頻道，以每週更新形式向全球觀眾首播。如今，在影集正式上線以前，來自劇中的OST宣傳單曲《dichotomy》（黑白無常）將率先登場，英語版與華語原版預定於9月18日全球同步上線，為這場橫跨人間與靈界的旅程揭開音樂序章。

If OBE MODE transports audiences between the living streets of Kowloon City, a realm of spiritual power, and the hidden order of the underworld, “dichotomy” enters an equally dangerous space: the conflict within. Moving between black and white, good and evil, darkness and light, hope and despair, the song follows a person learning to recognize, protect, and rebuild the self in a world where every moral boundary appears to be shifting.
如果《OBE MODE》帶領觀眾穿梭於九龍城的現實世界、靈力空間與陰間秩序，《dichotomy》則先一步走進人的內在戰場。歌曲從黑與白、善與惡、光與暗、希望與絕望之間的持續角力出發，描寫一個人在混沌世界中如何辨認自己、保護自己，並在一次次內在衝突裡重新建立信念。

The title “dichotomy” points to division, opposition, and polar extremes—but the song refuses to reduce life to a simple choice between black and white. Across both versions, morality changes shape, darkness gives way to light, and hope exists alongside despair. Its central idea is clear: becoming whole does not require erasing every contradiction within us. Sometimes strength begins when every conflicting version of the self finally learns to stand on the same side.

The bilingual release also arrives with an unexpected reveal. Although the English-language edition of “dichotomy” appears on the OBE MODE soundtrack, CHAN SAI GAAN confirms that the Mandarin recording is actually the song’s original version. It will also be featured on his debut Mandarin album, GRIEF WHEEL. By connecting his first scripted screen project with his first Mandarin album, the track becomes the first major point of intersection between two defining chapters of his creative journey.
然而，這次雙語發行還藏著一項出乎意料的設定。雖然《dichotomy》以英語版本成為《OBE MODE》的OST之一，但塵世間透露，華語版本才是歌曲最早誕生的原版，並已收錄於其首張華語專輯《GRIEF WHEEL》（輪迴之憂）。一首歌同時連接首部影視作品與首張華語專輯，也讓他的音樂與影像世界首次在同一個座標正式交會。

Speaking about the story behind the track, CHAN SAI GAAN shared: “The Mandarin version of ‘dichotomy’ is actually the original. It will also appear on my debut Mandarin album, GRIEF WHEEL. I rarely sing with this kind of rough, gritty edge, but once I heard the finished result, it felt unexpectedly right for the song. At its core, the story is about protecting who you are. I hope it reminds people that even when you are surrounded by darkness, you can still become your own source of light. It has a dark aesthetic, but its energy is ultimately positive, and I hope everyone enjoys it. As for what it has to do with OBE MODE? You’ll have to wait and see.”

Compared with the delicate introspection often associated with CHAN SAI GAAN’s music, “dichotomy” introduces a rougher, more direct, and more confrontational vocal presence. That grit is not simply a display of power. It functions like armor built in the middle of chaos—capable of being wounded, but unwilling to collapse; fully aware of the darkness in the world, yet determined not to surrender its own light.

The lyrics also conceal several playful clues. The Mandarin original brings the id, ego, and superego into an unlikely inner alliance, while the English edition imagines every version of the self fighting side by side. In the bridge, “System malfunction, I’m switching the mode” offers a sly echo of the title OBE MODE. Is it simply wordplay—or a hidden doorway into the story itself? For now, CHAN SAI GAAN is keeping that answer in the dark.

OBE MODE builds its supernatural world around desire, trauma, moral choice, mortality, and self-redemption. “dichotomy” compresses those same ideas into a sonic confrontation between opposing forces.
